Every year I start out with the best intentions. I am going to grow soooo much. I start my seedling and nurture them daily as they grow. I get the garden ready and plant my tiny plants.....then we leave for vacation or Mammoth and the heat wave arrives when we are gone and decimates that which I had tended so carefully. So this year I decided to plant many things in pots and will wait until fall to plant a full garden, meanwhile I enjoy watching the fruits of my labor.
1/2 my chicken coop where the adult chickens live; Gladys, Buffy and Mabel.
The lower yard with my garden, barn, pool and pups.
My pizza oven with grapes .
My "pond" with fish and Turtle Turtle.....
One thing that comes back year after year in my garden whether I get to it or not is my artichoke plant that is now huge and productive.
Fresh Pea sprouts, nothing better then fresh peas!
Eggs from my chickens.

about me
- Karen Rothfus
- Alta Loma, California, United States
- I am a newly, 3 years, transplanted California, who has found her heart in Northern Idaho. Married to my better half, Kevin, for 34 years, we live on ten acres with a pond, a barn with 23 antique John Deer tractors, 18 chickens and four labs (3 fox red, 1 chocolate) My hubby took an early out from United during this Covid situation, but still works full time as a flight examiner, we are learning how to empty nest to its fullest. Only thing that would make life better is if our children and daughter in law lived closer.
